Fragments of Reflection
Wed Oct 30 2024

An exciting attempt, but it seems it didn't succeed.

The design process often relies on logical patterns—these patterns help designers structure their ideas and allow the audience to more easily grasp the theme of a work. In my previous studies, I have consistently adhered to this familiar design logic: defining a theme, developing ideas, creating the work, and using design to answer questions. However, through repeatedly watching fashion shows and other forms of visual expression, I began to notice a more intuitive and emotional experience—a sense of fragmentation. This approach does not rely on a highly focused theme or strict logical sequence but instead presents independent fragments that establish a platform for the audience to freely perceive and reflect.

This project originates from an attempt to explore "fragmented expression." I aim to break free from linear narratives and tightly focused themes by constructing an open experiential space through scattered fragments. These independent pieces are not meant to convey a complete story or guide the audience toward a singular theme or conclusion. Rather, they offer a field with certain referential elements, allowing the audience to freely engage within their own logical and emotional frameworks, experiencing and reflecting in their unique ways.

My goal is not to eliminate logic altogether but to shift the emphasis from “controlling the narrative” to “stimulating perception.” In this fragmented expression, the focus is on creating a platform where the audience can form their own connections, crafting their own emotions, scenarios, or contemplative spaces. Through this approach, I aim to explore a more open and intuitive design language—one that prioritizes individual sensory experiences while respecting diverse interpretations.
